Here you can learn more about the Dutch Hockey Club of Hong Kong, a proud club of the Hong Kong Hockey Association.
Q1: Are you accepting new players to DHC?
Yes, we are always looking for new players with (limited to extensive) hockey experience. Our teams often participate in different divisions and thus we have different skill levels, we welcome you to come try out our training.
We even have a few newbies to hockey who are learning alongside our main teams! Come along and participate!
Q2: How many teams do you have and in which division do they play?
We have four adult teams and a kids hockey training group on Saturdays
Season 2019-2020
Men A: 1st division
Men B: 4th division
Women A: TBD
Kids / Hockey stars: A Mini & Youth Hockey Division with Kids Tournaments entered.
Q3: What is the common language spoken?
Our training and match communications are all in English.
Q4: Where do your players come from?
We are an international club with Dutch origin, however we are a mixed bunch of nationalities: Netherlands, Hong Kong, New-Zealand, Korea, France, Belgium, Argentina and Malaysia to name a few.
Q5: Where are the trainings and matches?
Our home pitch is Happy Valley, where there are 2 brand new artificial turf pitches, within the Horse race stadium. This is where we play our home matches and host our weekly training. We recommend walking in from Wong Nai Chung Toilet Block area through the soccer pitches to the field.
Most away matches are played at artificial pitches at HKFC or King’s Park Hockey Ground (occassionally Lok Fu).
Q6: When are the training and matches?
Weekly training (full pitch, split between Men and Women): Check with Convener's as this can change week to week
Matches for women are played on Saturday, whilst men compete on Sunday.
Kids train on Saturday mornings at Happy Valley. Visit the kids page for more.
Q7: Can I join a free trial training?
Yes, of course you are welcome to join a trial training session and experience hockey at Happy Valley and meet our club members. Please leave your name and contact details through the membership page, so the trainer and captains are aware that you are coming! Of course at any time during the season!
Q8: What are the social activities organized by DHC?
We have an amazing social committee who arrange great events throughout the season. Just check out our Blog Posts and Facebook / Instagram pages to see what a fun club we are!
Q9: When does the season start?
The regular hockey season starts from August and runs up until April (with a short break at Christmas). After the regular season, there are Cup matches. We also participate at the Easter HKFC 6's and in Summer Hockey.
Q10: What are the costs for the membership?
We are the cheapest hockey club in Hong Kong! See our fees below for the full season (half season possible):
Q11: Can I be a referee for the Dutch?
Yes, we are always happy to receive enthusiasts who would like to referee on behalf of the Dutch. Please leave your name and contact details through the membership page so we can contact you.
Q12: Do you accept students traveling abroad?
Absolutely! We would love for you to join us whilst you are on Overseas Exchange to Hong Kong, just get in contact with us or view our student study abroad page.
