Team updates Like last year we expect to continue with 2 ladies teams, 2 men’s teams and 1 kids club (U10, U8 and U6). For our kids club we are looking to extend our age range to kids under 12. Also, we plan to look into starting a beginner training to facilitate training to all different levels. Finances For next year we aim to have a break-even season. It is expected that the costs will go up and we are looking for ways to increase our income. Currently DHC is not only the most fun, but also the most financially attractive club in Hong Kong to play for. This has always been made possible due to the contribution of our sponsors. However this year our sponsors reduced their contributions and for next year we are not guaranteed that they will continue their support. The DHC committee is doing everything they can to keep our sponsors on board and we also strongly encourage our members to help us find new sponsors! See agenda point sponsors. We expect that our costs will go up due to the need for new kits. Throughout the year there have been many requests from our members and we are now in discussions with Sportsdirect to order new kits for everyone. This will also bring some extra costs. In addition, with increased attendance rates during training, we are looking for someone to support Ali during the training sessions and his holidays. We expect that a junior trainer will not only help Ali, but will also greatly improve the fun our members will have during training and matches. To ensure we can cover the increased expenses we have drafted a plan to attract sponsors. During the AGM we also agreed to increase the membership fees for full time players to HKD3200,- and for full time students to 1900,- For players who only join us for half a season the costs will be HKD 1700,- and students will be asked to contribute HKD 1000,- (a discount can be given, when they return their kit at the end of their period). We do not expect any difficulties in losing players to other clubs due to this increase, as we are still the most affordable club to play for. Thanks to the great efforts of the social chair and captains, we have increased the number of socials, of which many were subsidized by the club. For next season we will continue this tradition (to a certain extend) to keep the DHC spirit alive and kicking! If we succeed in attracting more sponsors we will also be able to subsidize more social events. Training (field) & start of the season We have submitted our request to book the Happy Valley pitch for both training and kids hockey. We expect that training will take place every Tuesday evening from 20.00-21.30, however are awaiting confirmation from LSCD and the HKHA. We aim to organize the first training 4 weeks before the season wills start so that we have optimal preparations for our new leagues. This means we’ll start training again mid-august as the competition usually commences in the second/third week of September. We are also looking for an assistant trainer for Ali, so that we can make sure everyone at training gets enough attention, and in the longer-term can facilitate beginner training. Sponsors Income from sponsorships forms an important revenue for DHC. Contact with our existing sponsors will be set up in the coming weeks and we are very keen to get new sponsor deals. Getting sponsor deals is not as easy as it used to be so we can really use everyone’s help! Do you have a company / work at a company / know a company that would be interested in sponsoring us? Do you have a connection with a bar or restaurant who would be interested/can be convinced to sponsor us? Please let us know! The person who introduces a new sponsor will receive a year free membership! Please reach out to Pleuni Rohof, Sarah Noonan or Alex de Haseth to help you to draft a proposal / visit a potential sponsor with you.Kits This year we will look into new uniforms. They will be ordered by the 14th of July. You will be contacted in the coming weeks for your kit size. Please help us by replying to that email at your earliest convenience. Recruitment of new players We are always actively looking for new players. Please help connect us to newbies in Hong Kong with a heart for hockey! Also, it helps if you like and/or share our recruiting posts on Social Media! In the meantime if you know anyone who wants to join our club please bring them into contact with Pleuni Rohof or Tessa Brink for the Ladies or Thomas Kluijtmans or Daan Kitschman for the Men’s. See the next page for some reasons why people should join DHC and spread the word! ZOAT Zuid Oost Azie Toernooi! (South East Asia Tournament)! This year ZOAT will be held 5, 6, 7 October in Singapore! This is a weekend that you do not want to miss! Hockey, beer-estafettes, music, dress-ups and dancing! More information about setting up 2 teams (men’s and ladies) will come soon. In the mean time if you have questions please reach out to Liesbeth van der Zee, Pleuni Rohof or Tom Uiterwaal. If you are curious for more information about ZOAT – look them up on facebook! New Hockey gear New season means that you may also need some new hockey stuff! I would like to remind you that Ali & Jolijn sell Playershouse sticks, mouthguards, shinguards etc. So if you need something, please reach out to Ali.
